We are an
Adelaide based organization that is currently organising a new series of amateur Martial arts tournaments for
South Australia. This is in conjunction with ISKA, a major International Sanctioning body ( www.iska.com.au ).
Our aim is to bring the
Adelaide martial arts community a little closer together by opening up an avenue for some healthy strong competition between Styles, Clubs & Individuals of various disciplines, on equal terms.
In South Australia, until now there has always been a lot of events & publicity for the conventional circles of Boxing, Kick Boxing & Muay Thai in the full contact arena, however for the other martial arts, competition has been left to inter-club tournaments or to non contact point sparring. We are endeavouring to bring forth a tournament that will that will cross the intra - club level.
The rules set that we have chosen for this purpose is San Shou as we have found that these are the most appropriate rule sets for the diversity of Martial arts, as they combine Punching, Kicking, throwing & takedowns. This maintains pace & speed in the competition, keeping the bouts alive & exciting.
San Shou translates to unbound hand; it is not a martial art in its self, but was designed in
China for martial artists of various styles to test their mettle with each other. San Shou refers to free fighting where the rules are designed as close as they can to simulate combat, within the confines of a ring. San Shou is developing around the world as the next rising ring sport, & has been since the early 90s. Currently San Shou competitions are held in 75 countries. This year San Shou is going to be held at the World Wu Shu Games, which are being run alongside the 2008 Olympic Games in
Beijing. San Shou has also now become a professional sport in

To add to the event, we will be looking to promote 80% San Shou bouts &
20 % of bouts focusing on traditionalist styles (e.g. Karate vs Karate). Some clubs may also have the possibility to demonstrate throughout the event, forms, katas & weapons.
The staff here at Dragon Breath Promotions are all Instructors in the Martial Arts Industry some of which hold full time Management positions of
Martial

Academys & have done through out
Australia over the last decade. Through the industry we have seen the gap in the area of Intra – club / amateur tournaments & have set about to bring more to this field. As this is only the beginning, Dragon Breath Promotions & ISKA hope to bring an event that can grow well into the future for South Australia Martial Arts.
