This event we're adding to the previous mix of San Shou and Kickboxing/Muay Thai, bringing in Modified MMA!
Just for clarification, the Modifed MMA rule set that we are working with in conjunction with ISKA is basically equivalent to 'C' Class MMA in other states. The rules allow for the full range of standup striking techniques, as per the San Shou rule set, using MMA style gloves of 6oz weight. The ground game is limited to grappling and submission fighting, no ground based strikes are allowed in this first version of MMA in South Australia. In time, we will continue to work with both the ISKA and Government in gradually phasing in further aspects of the MMA sport, hopefully building to parity with rule sets elsewhere.
